ABC's "Wife Swap" casting call - Seeking Cornhole-playing family

I wanted to share this news from the American Cornhole Association, released today. If you are interested in applying to be on the show, see the contact information at the bottom of the article.

ABC’s Hit Television Show "Wife Swap" Seeking Cornhole Fanatics!

The hit reality show, "Wife Swap," is doing a national casting call for the ULTIMATE Cornhole Family to represent the sport on the show! We are looking for fun, outgoing and entertaining families with big personalities that love to play Cornhole - and who would be excited to share their lifestyle with another deserving family!

"Wife Swap" takes two families from across the USA and swaps one parent from each household for a week to experience how another family lives. It is an incredible family-friendly experience and provides a unique opportunity to both learn and teach different values. Families must consist of two parents and have at least one child between the ages of 5-17 living full time in the home in order to participate on the show. Due to security restrictions, military families are not eligible at this time.

Families chosen for the show receive $20,000, and if you refer a family that is chosen for the show, you will receive a $1,000 finder’s fee!

Outgoing, dynamic and adventurous families who are interested in applying can contact Meghan McGinley at Meghan.McGinley@castingrdf.com or call (646) 747 7936. Hurry! This Casting Call will end on August 18th!

Cornhole in the News!

Check out these links to read about CORNHOLE in the news here in Florida and across the country!

'Corn Toss' Catching on Beyond Midwest

The projectiles are lighter than horseshoes and safer than lawn darts, but the idea's the same: Players try to hit a target several paces away. The game is called cornhole, or corn toss, because players try to throw cloth bags filled with corn into a hole. It is an Ohio phenomenon that is catching on elsewhere around the Midwest and beyond.

The Scoop on Cornhole Bags

If you are in the market for a new set of Cornhole bags, do some research and get the most for your money to ensure you are buying a quality set.

Things to look for in a quality cornhole bag:

  • Made from high quality 10oz or 12oz duck cloth. Duck cloth is a strong, canvas-type fabric that can take the abuse of regular cornhole play. (Many retailers offer bags made from licensed, printed fabric (NCAA, NFL, NBA, etc.). These bags are not made from duck cloth and will most-likely rip or tear shortly after you start playing).

  • Filled only with whole kernel corn. Don't accept synthetic fillers or popcorn in your bags. Whole kernel corn produces "dust" when it lands on the board which helps the bags slide properly.

  • Have reinforced seams. Look for bags that are at least double-stitched (triple-stiched is better). This will ensure your bags don't split at the seams allowing corn spill out or force you to constantly make repairs.

  • Are regulation-weight. The American Cornhole Association states regulation bags must weigh between 14-16oz each.

Cornhole Lingo

Ok...It's Sunday evening and time for the Cornhole lesson of the week. Below you will find some common cornole lingo so you can talk the talk when you step up to the court.

Cow Pie: A bag on the board, 1 point
Cornhole: A bag in the hole, 3 points
Slick Willy: A cornhole that slides up the board into the hole
Pimp: A bag (or now we know, a cow pie) positioned on the board in front of the hole, preventing a slick willy
Lipper: A cow pie on the lip of the hole, ready to drop
Honors: The team that scored in the last round has "honors" allowing them to throw first
Frontin': Stepping past the front of the board

Double Deuce: Four cornholes made in one round by one player
